Bookkeeper / Office Manager
About the Role
At 6th Ave Homes, we believe a home is sacred space—and behind every restored home is a team that keeps things moving. We’re looking for a Bookkeeper / Office Manager to help us do just that.
This person will own our financial systems and support our internal operations. While the bulk of this role is financial—managing budgets, payroll, invoices, and subcontractor payments—it also includes key responsibilities in office management, HR support, insurance, and hiring coordination.
We operate as a one-stop shop, with real estate, design, construction, and pool & outdoor all under one roof. That means this role supports the operational rhythm of what is essentially four companies in one, each with its own workflows, needs, and personalities. It's fast-paced, collaborative, and purpose-driven—and it requires someone who thrives in complexity, brings structure to chaos, and finds satisfaction in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Location: On-site at our Fort Worth, TX office
Position Type: Full-time, 40+ hours per week
Compensation: $60,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting
• Maintain all financial records with accuracy and timeliness
• Handle Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Accounts Payable (A/P)
• Manage budgets, perform regular bank reconciliations
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports and weekly A/R updates to leadership
• Support construction job accounting with proper allocation of expenses
Invoicing & Payments
• Invoice clients on a bi-weekly or monthly cadence
• Process subcontractor payments (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly)
Payroll & HR Support
• Run and process company payroll
• Onboard and off board employees in internal systems
• Oversee benefits enrollment and assist in benefits plan selection
Insurance & Compliance
• Maintain business insurance policies
• Communicate with providers for quotes, renewals, and documentation
Office & Admin Management
• Oversee office operations: supplies, vendors, utilities, cleaning, and security
• Support hiring: job postings, applicant coordination, and basic screening
• Identify and implement system improvements to increase internal efficiency
Qualifications
• Proven experience in bookkeeping or financial operations
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online
• Familiarity with construction job costing is a plus
• Experience with payroll and benefits administration
• High attention to detail, excellent organization, and self-management
• Strong communicator who can anticipate needs, follow through, and close the loop
• Comfortable managing competing priorities and shifting gears as needed
Bonus Points If You
• Have experience in a small business or startup setting
• Love building and improving systems
• Enjoy being the behind-the-scenes glue that holds things together
• Thrive in a fast-moving, multi-hat culture with a lot of moving parts
