Job Description

Summary:

Systems Interface is searching for a highly skilled Electrical Testing Technician. As electrical testers, candidates will work with electrical, mechanical, and software systems. The tester evaluates and troubleshoots electrical components, equipment, and systems using various tools and testing equipment. This includes but is not limited to design review, fabrication standards, quality evaluation, and modification of developmental and production electronic controls and components. Troubleshooting and repair of parts, equipment, and systems such as control instrumentation, test equipment, and machine controls. Experience in the electrical field is required, preferably in electrical components, equipment, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine materials requirements, assembly instructions, and control functions to determine operational methods of sequences. 
  • Knowledge of safe wiring techniques. 
  • Proficiency using standard electronic lab test equipment (DMM, power meter, power supplies, clamp meters, for example). 
  • Training in electrical safety knowledge and arc flash training (Training and required Arc Flash Training will be provided).
  • Inspect and confirm that assembled wiring and components for control panels, electronic systems, and subassemblies are built according to the specifications of the company standard and the customers. 
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic components as required during the testing phase.
  • Explain assembly procedures or techniques to wire technicians to complete any repairs, corrections, or equipment design issues. 
  • Confer with supervisors and engineers to plan and review work activities and resolve production delays, such as delayed parts arrival and testing workflow delays. 
  • Assist customers with on-site witness testing of control systems.
  • Instruct customers on-site in installing, repairing, or maintaining products installed in their control systems. 
  • Review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences. 
  • Assemble small electrical or electronic equipment. 
  • Inspect wiring installations, assemblies, and circuits for resistance factors or operation and record results. 
  • Record operational or production data. 
  • Align parts or workpieces to ensure proper assembly. 
  • Instruct workers to use equipment or perform technical procedures. 
  • Mark products, workpieces, or equipment with identifying information. 
  • Clean workpieces or finished products for movement to the shipment process.

Qualifications

  • Vocational training or certification (preferred) 
  • Associate degree or equivalent (optional, preferred) 
  • 2+ Years of industry experience in the electrical field or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and safe wiring practices 
  • Strong safety record 
  • Systematic problem solving-skills

Knowledge Base:

Engineering and Technology  

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services

Computers and Electronics  

  • Basic computer skills (email, internet, Teams chat, file navigation, PDF, etc.)  
  • Allen-Bradley Software Drives & PLC (optional)  
  • AutoCAD, Drafting software (optional)  

Customer and Personal Service  

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.  

Mechanical  

  • Knowledge of basic machines and tools, including their designs, safe uses, and maintenance

Production and Processing  

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing production efficiency. 
  • Freedom to determine tasks, priorities, and goals 
  • At times, it requires repeating the same physical or mental activities. 
  •  Requires being exact or highly accurate 

Mathematics  

  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. 
  • Measurement and Tools, including Tape Measure, Caliper, Dials, and Gauges. 
  • Electrical Formulas- Ohm’s Law, Kirchhoff's, Watt’s, Coulomb’s Law, etc. 

Technical Language ( Trade Language)

  • Proper grammar, rules of composition, and spelling related to the English Language
  • Technical terms and phrases specific to computers, software, and equipment in the control system and electrical industry.

Environment :

  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels occasionally distracting or uncomfortable over 85 dB for 8 hours daily or less.
  • High Voltage Test equipment (Arc Flash)
  • Machinery and Hand Tools (Tools) 
  • Active Production Areas -pallet traffic, potential forklift traffic, and personnel carts
  • Hot Work (Soldering, fabrication involving cutting, brazing, grinding, and spark-producing tools.

Body Positioning  

  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls 
  • Requires occasional sitting 
  • Requires being physically able to stand, crouch, and lift objects through a standard-length workday 
  • Stand at least four to six hours per day, often more 
  • Kneel/ work on knees, approx. 30 minutes a day
  • Occasionally lie in an awkward position 
  • Proper lifting body positioning – Required “Buddy” lift multiple times per day as required 
  • Carry objects 50 lbs or more, sometimes multiple times a day or for multiple repetitions. 
  • Often perform work above your head. 
  • Often perform work while bent over 
  • Clean/sweep/vacuum almost daily 
  • Use power tools (saws, drills, sanders, stud welding, etc.) 
  • Use hand tools with multiple repetitive movements.
  • Often move pallets around with pallet jacks 

Compensation Range:

FLSA: Non-Exempt

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $32.00/Hr. - USD $38.00/Hr. depending on experience and qualifications.
