Are you an experienced Construction Estimator with a proven ability to deliver accurate, competitive estimates on projects valued at $20–50M+? Our client, a 105-year-old family-owned commercial General Contractor based in Norfolk, is seeking a skilled Estimator to join their Preconstruction team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects ranging from $20–50M+
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive takeoffs
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive pricing
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers during preconstruction to ensure scope alignment
• Identify and assess cost-related risks and opportunities throughout the estimating process
• Maintain and update historical cost data and unit price databases for future reference
• Participate in value engineering efforts to maximize cost efficiency without compromising project quality
• Support the development and submission of competitive proposals, including schedules and narratives

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience estimating commercial construction projects valued at $20–50M+
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage, Bluebeam)
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost drivers
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
