Alexander Rose is currently partnering with a leading heavy highway construction company to help fill a critical Job Cost Accountant position. We are seeking a highly skilled and tech-savvy professional to join their accounting team and support accurate project cost tracking and financial reporting. We are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Job Cost Accountant to join our accounting team. This role is essential for tracking and analyzing job costs to help maintain accurate project budgets and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting, especially heavy highway projects, and be proficient in Viewpoint Vista and HCSS HeavyJob software. You will collaborate closely with the Financial Controller and Technology Manager to develop automated dashboards for monthly reporting. Key Responsibilities Track, analyze, and report job costs for active construction projects. Ensure proper job cost allocation within the Viewpoint Vista ERP system. Review labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs against project budgets. Work closely with project managers and field teams to maintain timely and accurate cost tracking; lead monthly project management meetings. Perform job cost variance analysis and provide insights to management. Prepare monthly job cost reports and assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules. Reconcile subcontractor billing, purchase orders, and cost commitments. Partner with the Technology Manager to develop and maintain interactive dashboards and automated reporting tools. Support month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of job cost accounting experience within the heavy highway construction industry. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Proficiency in Viewpoint Vista required. Experience with HCSS HeavyJob or similar job cost tracking software preferred. Strong technology skills, with experience in dashboard or data visualization development. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and collaboration abilities. Self-motivated and organized with strong time management skills.
