Job Title: Parent Support Specialist

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Scheduled Hours: Monday-Friday, with some evenings needed

About the Program:

Assists individuals in exploring and concretizing their educational and employment-related aspirations. Services include customized care through a comprehensive vocational assessment, individual and group counseling, and linkages to the business community, broadening opportunities for clients.

Position Highlights:

  • A typical day would be meeting with clients in the community to assist with job development, filling out applications, practicing mock interviews or working on resumes, etc...
  • This position is an outreach program; no option for remote work.
  • A great position for a new grad looking to get started in the Behavioral Health/non-profit sector.
  • This position will help individuals find employment which in turn will help them live a better quality of life. We believe employment is treatment and it also provides a sense of purpose, structure, and autonomy.
  • If you like working independently, then this job is for you! 90% of this job is working independently. There is weekly supervision which will provide an opportunity for support.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Carries an average caseload of 10 families receiving intervention, and average 4 months maximum length of service per family.
  • Completes PSS initial Assessment within the first 2 visits and other model specific assessments per model requirements.
  • Provide Level 4 Standard Triple P and Level 4 Teen Triple P curriculum interventions per model fidelity lasting 10-16 sessions of 1-2 hours per session.
  • Provide Circle of Security Parenting intervention lasting 10-16 sessions of 1-2 hours per session or if provided as a group lasting 8-10 sessions.
  • Provide case management services consistent with the Wraparound philosophy by assisting the family with identifying and prioritizing family needs, navigating and using community resources, creating a family budget, selecting and providing substitute caregivers, linking to traditional and non-traditional services and support systems, and identifying and using public and/or alternative transportation methods.
  • Provide crisis planning to anticipate potential crisis situations and assistance.
  • Collaboration with the DCF worker by maintaining frequent contact for open DCF cases regarding the family's progress.
  • Attend Permanency Team meetings held for any in-home or out-of home cases.
  • Participate in supervision and peer support meetings as required by the model.
  • Works a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the caregivers and includes evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Demonstrates competency in age-related or specialty issues and developmental needs for each population served.

Qualifications:

Education: BA in human services or a related field is required.

Experience: Direct experience working with children and families. Preference will be given to individuals who have done home-based work with families.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: None

Training: Preference will be given to individuals who are already trained in Triple P and/or Circle of Security

Compensation*: $20.00/hour min and up commensurate upon experience. Actual rates are determined at the time of offer and are based on relevant experience, as well as, adherence to our internal equity policy. Many of our positions offer program/location differentials and/or sign-on incentives. (Please note, for part-time positions this range would be pro-rated based on hours worked)
