Position: Pipe Fitter

Reports to: Pipe Shop Manager
Location: Athens, GA and/or Commerce, GA
Schedule: MondayFriday, 6:00 AM 4:30 PM (Saturdays as needed, 6:00 AM 2:00 PM)
Status: Full-time | Overtime Available

Please note: This is a local, in-shop position. Per diem is not offered.

About the Role

Were looking for a skilled Pipe Fitter to join our growing team. In this role, youll be responsible for laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems for a variety of industrial projects. This is a hands-on position that requires technical knowledge, a great work ethic, and strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and specs to determine pipe layout and materials.
• Select, cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipe according to project needs.
• Fit, bolt, clamp, and tack weld pipe and components for final welding.
• Install hangers, supports, valves, and other piping system components.
• Conduct pressure and leak tests on completed pipe systems.
• Use tools like grinders, beveling machines, and cutting torches.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and rigging equipment as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.

What You Bring

• 1+ years of industrial pipe fitting experience.
• Ability to read isometric drawings (ISOs), blueprints, weld symbols, and piping specs.
• Familiar with ASME B31.3 and general construction practices.
• Solid understanding of pipe types, fittings, and installation methods.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working independently and in a team setting.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety practices.
• Experience with Oxy/fuel and plasma torch cutting.

Bonus if You Have

• Experience with ASME B31.1 and B31.3
• Welding or tacking skills using GTAW process.
• Fit-up/layout experience on structural steel.
• Familiarity with NDE methods like RT, UT, MT, and PT.
• NCCER Pipe Fitter Certification or similar formal training.
