Job Description

Lexeo Therapeutics is seeking a Principal Scientist/Sr. Scientist to join our Discovery & Translation team in San Diego, CA. The individual in this role will be responsible for designing and implementing experiments using iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes or other relevant cell lines to support the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for cardiac disease. This role requires expertise in cell culture techniques, cell differentiation, a strong background in molecular biology, and experience in optimizing high-throughput screening platforms. This is a hands-on laboratory role with the successful candidate also contributing to research strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Identify relevant in vitro systems to support drug discovery for innovative cardiac targets
2. Design and optimize protocols for efficient and reproducible differentiation of iPSCs into cardiomyocytes
3. Design, execute, and interpret in vitro screening studies, including the application of high-throughput screening assays, to advance drug discovery efforts
4. Employ a variety of cellular and molecular assays (e.g., imaging, qPCR/ddPCR, western blot, MSD) to support drug discovery efforts
5. Analyze and interpret data from in vitro studies to provide recommendations to internal stakeholders
6. Stay up to date on the latest advances in in vitro modeling and consider opportunities to apply novel technologies/techniques for discovery research
7. Collaborate within and across teams to advance drug discovery and development projects
8. Maintain current, detailed documentation of experimental designs, results, and analyses using an electronic laboratory notebook

Required Skills & Qualifications

1. Ph.D. in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field with 0-3 years of post-graduate research experience
2. Knowledge and experience using bioinformatics workflows
3. Experience with RNA-seq analysis, including QC, normalization, and differential expression analysis
4. Hands-on experience with a variety of cellular systems; experience with cardiomyocytes is a plus
5. Deep knowledge of cellular and molecular biology techniques (e.g., flow cytometry, imaging, RNA/DNA isolation, ddPCR, western blot)
6. Must be able to effectively document research efforts in an electronic laboratory notebook
7. Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills with the ability to effectively convey scientific findings to key internal stakeholders
